JD – Director, Licensed Tax Consultant, IRS Enrolled Agent
Tim graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration (B.S.) in 1992 and went on to receive his Juris Doctor (JD) law degree from the District of Columbia School of Law in 1996. After law school he moved to Portland and interned as a legal assistant until 1998 when he took a position with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) teaching tax law to IRS employees and advising taxpayers on tax law issues. In 2001, with a mission to provide taxpayers and businesses with authoritative and meaningful guidance through the labyrinth of the laws and bureaucracies of the IRS, he left the IRS and founded The Miller Associates. In 2002 he became a Licensed Tax Consultant (LTC) in the State of Oregon and achieved Enrolled Agent (EA) status with the IRS.
Tim was born and raised on a small Christmas tree farm near Auburn, Indiana. He subsequently lived in St. Cloud, Minnesota; Manassass, Virginia; Barranquilla, Colombia and Washington D.C. before settling in Oregon. He now lives in North Portland and is active in Portland’s creative communities including the Falcon Art Community www.falconartcommunity.com, the River Street Art Community www.portlandartstudios.com, the Portland Burning Man Community www.burningman.com and is Treasurer for both the PFD Conservation Trust and the Portland Artists Clinic www.portlandartistsclinic.org. Tim’s hobbies include DJing, oil painting, sailing, hiking, camping and mycology. Over the years Tim has traveled the US, Mexico, Colombia, Canada, Italy, and Japan.
